In 1998, Peter Hopwood, dying of cancer, came close to beating Denis Welch, the European Champion, in the Healey International Race at the Bathurst 1000; the last lap was epic TV. AH3000 came 10th in that race and 20 years later has come back with Mansfield Motorsport for one final farewell lap.

This 10:28 run by the Dermotts in 2006 was with a 5.1:1 diff using 2nd gear on the hairpins (+Quaife LSD & Tulip ratios). The fastest climb was 10:24 in 2005 using 4.3:1 and 1st on the hairpins, 45th out of 91 entries and 4th in category; start at the toll house at Merimba and finish outside the Whitt

Bathurst 12 Hour Supports 2018 - Austin Healey 3000 Mk I - Group Sa Driver: Peter Jackson (Jacko Snr) - #100 The gearbox was playing up, jumping out of second a few times. Dad started 50th out of 51 and finished 29th overall, 1st in class.
